Got a New Job...well..."Temporary Job" That Is...

I finally broke down and went to a local agency to find work at the middle of October. I started a new "temp" job on November 3 working for a company named Exel Logistics here in Brampton.

They handle the logistics work for Kelloggs currently and basically I am doing what is classified as "heavy labor". Every day the job I am doing might change but essentially what is involved is 8 hrs of heavy lifting. When I first started, I felt like a truck ran over me having been off work for the entire summer and first part of the fall season.

The first four days I was working was a reality check/wakeup call for me. I did not realize how good I had it at Loblaws despite the less-than-ideal working conditions vs. the payrate. I am getting significantly less to do more hours now. I started my job at Exel lugging completed cases of cereal to a machine that tapes up the box after it came off the packaging line. The reason the cereal had to be unpacked and repackaged is because Exel inserts the free promotional item inside the cereal box. After the cereal is resealed, it goes down a line to one of four girls who re-pack the 24 boxes into a full case and slide it down rollers to me.

Yep...pretty boring for 8 hrs.

The 5th day they didn't run the insert line and I quickly learned that the insert line was a cakewalk. That day they had me working on the end of a line where I had to:
  • Stamp the date twice on the cardboard case
  • Tape the bottom of the cardboard case making a box
  • Tape the boxes closed after the girl packed it
  • Carried the finished case to an area 10 ft away to make a stack set on the floor
  • Once the set was completed, I would hand-wrap the stack for the clamp-truck to take the stack away
  • Lather, Rinse, Repeat...etc.
Suffice to say, I couldn't keep up. So I was moved to a seemingly easier line with smaller product -- cases of cereal bars. Was it easier?

Relatively.

Was it faster?

Yup.

By the end of the shift, I had completely sweated my way through two t-shirts. Note to self: DO NOT WEAR LIGHT OR GRAY SHIRTS AGAIN.

My second week started off much like the first - working the insert line, which I was happy to see! Then on the Thursday of the second week, I was told I wouldn't be needed in the packaging area but would be working the "Core" section of the receiving docks. I thought I was being punished for not "working hard enough".

Working in the docks meant that you had to unload 40-foot trailers by hand in the 8-hrs. To be honest with you, I like it more than working in the packaging area since you had no one watching you except for the forklift driver and he doesn't care if you take your time because as long as you get the trailer done, he won't have to "find work" to do.

We finished the trailer with 45 minutes to spare so we took our time signing out so as to only lose 30 minutes pay.

This week however, its been a totally different story.

Thanks to the recent economic state, work inside the plant has slowed right down. Monday I was sent home after 3 1/2 hrs when work ran out. Today I didn't work because they didn't have enough work for all the temp. workers that are employed on site. Tomorrow I get to work the "Core" section again but its bittersweet since I am currently sick with a chest cold.

I guess I'll be wearing warm clothes tomorrow.

How long will this temp. job last? Hopefully into the new year or longer until I can find something better.

Game Over...Mario Super Sluggers Card Game Comes to an End

It was fun while it lasted but all good things must come to an end.

I do have to say though that today was the most exciting day throughout the whole month-plus long process that the game was being played. I have to tip my hat to fellow Gamespot forumer "Biloxibilbo". She really pulled one out of the hat for everyone by being able to figure out what StarBP had done to gain access to the main administrator account.

I hate to say it but StarBP had a huge ego and couldn't resist bragging about his "find" of the codes that I previously listed here on my blog. He threatened me not to say anything about how he got access so I stayed silent for my own neck's sake. But now I can say that he only really took advantage of the very poor security setup they were using at the website.

To make a long story short, Biloxibilbo discovered his scheme and shut him out of his access and released the last remaining card he was holding hostage. He knew the url all along and wanted to make it seem like he was a hero of sorts by using a system similar to what I had done last week by cloning the card and paying it forward. I can't blame him though -- it felt good to know that you were helping people. His execution of it however lacked forethought.

Anyways, the game is over and here is the complete list of card locations:

Near Complete List of Card Locations

I don't believe this but someone has given me the list of card locations for ALL THE CARDS except one - King Boo. So sit back and get ready to be blown away.

--Update--
I have just been informed that I am not allowed to post the links here. If you want to see the links then you can do so by going to the Gamespot Forums. All the links that were here are listed there.

We only have one card left to find and since he's a ghost he might be harder to find so let's get out there and flush him out!!

The End Is Near...Baby Mario FOUND...King Boo Too!!

It has been one exciting evening. I went out for about two hours earlier this evening and when I got home I was surprised to find out that not only was Baby Mario in my collection of cards but this agonizing month long game is finally winding down.

The last card in the series has been spotted on the dashboard of the "Moderator" account for the MSS website -- don't ask since its a long story.

The Baby Mario card can be found at the following location: http://mariosupersluggerscards.com/JDKHG

As soon as I find out the addresses to the still missing King K.Rool and King Boo cards I will put them up here.

Damage control time...

Earlier I mentioned that it was discovered how bad the security was on the MSS website. Well, that revelation has unfortunately come back to bite me in the rear. Someone used the information that was posted on the Gamespot forums to gain access to the moderator account and make a whole bunch of posts as the "moderator" and some posts under my screen identity.

Not cool.

I just want to go on record now saying I do not support or condone the actions of that individual one bit. For the lack of a better term, what you have done is not only vandalize the Mario Super Sluggers Cards website but my good name as well.

You even admitted it that you used it and I have saved the screens where you have admitted to such acts.

I never meant for any harm to come from this knowledge -- I only meant to show how poorly designed a billion dollar corporation's website was.

Stay tuned...I think its only going to get worse :|

Blooper is on the loose!

Yes it's true...

The third of the remaining three cards has been "released" much in the same manner that King K.Rool was last weekend. Blooper is now circulating throughout the Gamespot/GameFaqs forums and he's multiplying faster than Nintento would like it to.

I still blame Nintendo for shoddy security and poor website setups.

I cannot go fully into how we found Blooper but let's just say that if it was that easy to gain access to the "dashboard" then how many others have quietly done it?

Let the cloning continue...

The Blooper Url has been found -- http://www.mariosupersluggerscards.com/DUEKD/

It's back! Cloning Resumes...

The "clone wars" have started again...

Thursday, September 25, 2008

It was fun while it lasted -- King K.Rool Cloning Done

It had to happen sooner or later. Nintendo found out what we were doing in an earlier post I made about cloning the elusive "King K.Rool" card in their "Mario Super Sluggers" card hunt.

Too bad too because there are still three cards to go and I wanted to see if we could generate the same hype as we did with the K.Rool card.

As of this writing, there still has been no sign of the King K.Rool card address, nor the addresses of the other three remaining cards -- King Boo, Baby Mario and Blooper.

We'll keep our eyes (and ears) peeled and the minute we know about it, you will too.

How to Get King K.Rool - Listen Up Because I Will Only Say This Once

I'm sure you all know of the Mario Super Sluggers virtual card promotion that is currently underway to help promote the release of the Wii video game. For almost a month now, Nintendo has been hiding "virtual baseball cards" online in web advertising banners and kid-friendly websites.

Over the course of the promotion, I have been participating in the little game. I find it amusing to see many people literally losing their minds trying to find cards online. Myself, I have had a run-in with an editor over at Wikipedia who claims that only "little kids" are playing this game. Well to my surprise, there are many adults like myself taking part. Some are even doing it with their children.

As you have read in my previous entries, Nintendo's website was not the most secure as anyone could have their account compromised and have their collected pilfered simply by requesting their password without having to enter an answer to the hint question you provided upon sign-up. Nintendo quickly fixed that but you have to wonder who exactly within Nintendo has designed this website where the game is being promoted on.

I have come across another flaw in their system which easily allows users to "clone" or make many duplicate copies of cards that have been found. As of last night, there were only two King K.Rool cards in existance. I requested a trade with the one user who had two and offered him 5 cards against his 1 K.Rool card. To my shock and surprise, he accepted the trade.

King K.Rool CardThat's when I put my little plan into action. I had previously seen users claiming they could make copies of their cards by simply finding their own user account and proposing a trade of equal value. What that means is you load 1 card on the left side of the trade screen and you load the exact same card on the right side of the swap screen. You then propose the trade and instantly it tells you that "DCB316 has requested a trade" and it tells you which cards are involved. You simply go to accept the trade and amazingly enough -- you cards DOUBLED in amount. So your previous ownership of one King K.Rool card has now become two.

From there you must log out of the system and then log back in. Only then can you go and turn your two cards into four and repeat the process over and over.

You're likely wondering though -- "What's the catch"?

What I want in exchange for this information is the following. I shared with you two things so you must do the same thing in return - copy and share my example. Its that simple. There are so many selfish people in the world that its about time that good old fashioned values make a return.

Its a modern day version of "Pay it Forward" -- I help you so therefore I EXPECT you to turn around and help three total strangers and I only request that you tell them to do the same.

Believe it or not, this system works and its shows how if people would only work together how much better a place the world would be.

Think about it...

Mario Super Sluggers Cards

Okay...I tried to be nice but certain pricks over at Wikipedia who have nothing better to do than to attempt to be edit-Nazis have deleted a page I created to help people participating in Nintendo's online game to find Mario Super Sluggers Trading Cards.

Since this waste of space known as RobJ1981 feels that my article is not worthy to be on Wikipedia, guess what pal? This is my blog and no
w instead of people coming to your website to get information, they can come here and freely get the information they require. I mean, isn't that what Wikipedia was supposed to be for -- to enlighten people and help distribute information online.

So yeah, thanks RobJ1981 -- you just confirmed what I was suspecting all along -- people who edit and control what is on Wikipedia are nothing but supporters of censorship.

So without further adieu, here's the information that used to be on Wikipedia for everyone to read freely and benefit from.

Mario Super Sluggers Collectible Cards is a online card game that is being presented by Nintendo to help promote their new Wii Game Mario Super Sluggers game. There are 41 cards in total being advertised that players can collect online by going to the Official Mario Super Sluggers Site.

Locations of Cards
Hidden online in ad banners featured on "kid-friendly" websites such as Cartoon Network.com and
Nick.com, each user can find one card per banner by clicking on it when they find it. Other users found it more accessible to create a log of the individual website url addresses leading to the cards.

Trade 6 Get It Free...More Like "STEAL"...

Okay...I'll be the first one to admit it. I used to hate how little you got in exchange for trading your games in at EB Games or Gamestop. How can one justify getting $8-12 on a perfectly good game that you originally spent over $67 of your hard-earned money on?

I never did like it but up until last year, I started to understand that at certain times, you have to take advantage of their system to get even. What am I talking about? Listen up...I'll tell you.

Last year, one of my good buddies who worked at the mall where my work was tipped me into a trick he uses to get what he wants for way less. Remember that special Halo 3 edition that came with the replica Master Chief helmet that was ridiculously overpriced at about $150? Well, I got it for about $90.

How you ask? Easy -- trades at EB Games.

At the start of every new season, EB Games usually holds a massive special where they have a sale on previously used games. Usually its buy 2 games for $10, 15, 20 or 30. You then flip those games back if they fall into the qualified trade-in offer for what you want. The Halo 3 Legendary Edition would be free if you traded in 6 games that qualified at $8 or more. The trick is finding out which games are closest to $8 without spending a lot of money. I managed to find 6 which worked out to about $90. Doing that saved me about $70 off the final price of the H3 Legendary package.

Fast-forward to this fall promotion -- EB is offering a "Trade 6 Get Nintendo DS Lite Free" promo. I went to my local Blockbuster on Sunday and found 3 games that after taxes came out to be $37. Those games were "NFL Tour (PS3)", "Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix (360)" and "Nights (Wii)". I wasn't doing this for my benefit but that of a close friend who really wanted a DS but the price was out of her budget. I had 3 games sitting here that quite honestly I had not played at all in the time I had them -- "Dead or Alive 4 (360), Tiger Woods PGA Tour '07 (360)" and "Call of Duty 4 (360)" and had to issues donating them. I didn't feel like running around to find games from a list I was given from my source at EB so I used my own games. I'll just take the trade values and ask her for that and call it even. They weren't being used anyways and I would have gotten the same value from EB for them so its all good.

The only thing with the promotion is that the games must have the original case and instruction booklets. So I was able to snag a Polar White DS Lite for my friend and I can't wait to see the look on her face when I present it to her and tell her how much it cost.

So if you are quick enough, you can do the same thing if you want a DS badly but make sure you do it before the end of September as the deal ends at the end of the month.

Oh, I forgot to mention is valid for Canadian EB stores only.

Mario Super Sluggers Gone Bad

Here's an update to my earlier post about the Mario Super Sluggers online card collecting game that Nintendo is doing as part of the launch of the new Wii video game.

It seems that three weeks into the game, people have started to discover that the website where you save the cards you found online is not as secure as Nintendo would like us to believe. It seems that it is relatively easy for a user to use another member's screenname and use the "forgot my password" function to easily retrieve what is supposed to be secure password information.

Don't believe me? Try it for yourself -- I created a new dummy account TIHSLLUB. You don't even have to know the answer to the hint question it asks because all you need to do is leave it blank and hit enter. Faster than you can say WTF it reveals your password, granting access to anyone trying to "hack into" your account to steal your precious "Toadsworth" card.

This information came to light on Tuesday when someone posting under the name of "sundryreyes" on the Gamespot.com forums foolishly revealed that he had a "secret" to getting cards. After a little baiting back and forth, I got the answer out of him and his secret was the method described above. Its not really a secret but rather a HUGE security flaw on the part of whoever designed that subsite for Nintendo.

Up until it was revealed on Tuesday night, I was enjoying the online fun of trying to find the cards, but now it just seems so pointless to find more since anyone can access my account by using the password retrieval method described earlier. I hope the moderator of the website forums sees what is going on and takes action as soon as possible.

I find it amusing though that Nintendo would use such cheap methods to ensure user account safety. The "hack" was so simple, even a child could do it.

I bet you thought I was going to say "caveman", didn't you?

2:00 PM ET -- It seems that the moderators of the website have finally caught on and put a stop to the shenanigans going on with the stolen login information. If they had a better system to begin with, none of this would have happened.

Are You Ready? They're Coming Back Soon!

You're probably wondering what the heck I am talking about. With September just about to descend on us, a new year is set to begin.

No, I am not referring to school.

I am referring to the shows we have come to know and love. Some shows are starting right away while some don't start until the new year. This is good in case you haven't had the chance to catch up on the closing moments of the previous season. You still have time to miss those episodes you missed such as Lost which doesn't start until Winter 2009.

What are some of my favorite shows returning in September?

First, one show that is likely returning for its final season and that show is "SMALLVILLE".

The last time we saw Clark Kent he was being confronted by Lex Luthor inside his Fortress of Solitude. Lex finally discovered that Clark was the mysterious "Traveler" that his father had been protecting the identity of for many years. As Lex plunged the glowing orb into the Fortress console panel, Clark collapsed to the ground as his powers were instantly sapped from his body. Lex embraced Clark as the Fortress collapsed onto them and the two disappeared into thin air leaving us wondering if they survived the collapse.

Now, as a new season begins, The Justice League, led by the Green Arrow, hits the Arctic in search of Clark, who disappeared after the Fortress collapsed. The team immediately has a confrontation with the new CEO of LuthorCorp, Tess Mercer. Meanwhile, Chloe is being held prisoner by a suspicious group who has discovered she has a new power, and Clark has been stripped of his powers by Jor-El.

Additionally this season, we'll see the arrival of a new enemy to face off against the future "Man of Steel" in the form of the deadly nemesis known as "Doomsday". It remains to be seen if this version will hold true to the one from the comics who became the only entity able to actually kill Kal-El after their epic battle in Metropolis back in DC Comics in the mid 90's.

Another show I am looking forward to returning is "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles". The show had a very limited season which only lasted 9 episodes and picked up where the events of T2: Judgment Day left off.

The pilot episode was set in 1999 and introduced Sarah Connor, her son John, and Cameron, a Terminator that had been re-programmed to protect John. They are being pursued by a Terminator sent back through time to assassinate John (Cromartie) and FBI Agent James Ellison, who believes Sarah is a deranged criminal (based on the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day). Sarah is romantically involved with an EMT named Charley Dixon, but ends her relationship with him to stay on the run.

During the pilot, Sarah, John, and Cameron make a temporal leap to the year 2007. Cromartie suffers extensive damage while trying to kill them, but his head follows them through time, repairs his endoskeleton and artificial flesh, and continues his search for John.

Seeing how John is frustrated with their life of running, Sarah resolves to go on the offensive against Skynet. But the world in 2007 proves complex: they find Skynet has sent additional Terminators back in time to support its own creation, and the resistance movement has sent back its own fighters to interfere.

As they seek out an intuitive chess computer called The Turk, which may be a precursor to Skynet, they forge an alliance with Derek Reese, resistance fighter and uncle to John.

The first season ended with a bang when a jeep that Cameron got into exploded in an apparent attack on the Connors. There has been spoilers that she survived the blast but was damaged and even goes as far as to attack both Sarah and John in the first couple of episodes of season two. Should be exciting to get a full season this time around thanks to last season being cut short by the writers strike.

Two others shows that I am looking forward to are "HEROES" and the revival of that 90's teenage sensation franchise "90210". It will be interesting to see where Heroes goes with the "Third Chapter" being entitled "Villains". I do know that we will see Sylar back doing what he does best and we'll finally get to see exactly who assassinated Nathan Petrelli at the end of the previous season.

90210 should be interesting as well since they are attempting to make it much better than its predecessor with some familiar faces returning to help give the new version a tie to the past. It starts this coming Tuesday, September 9 at 8PM with a two-hour premiere.

Other returning shows I can't wait to see are Survivor and Lost, which return on September 25th and sometime in January 2009.

Lots to see coming up in the next 8-9 months...

How to Find More Mario Super Sluggers Cards!

I know Nintendo will probably have a fit over this but over at the new website advertising the newest Wii game entitled "MARIO SUPER SLUGGERS" they are doing a small viral campaign where you go to "kid-friendly" websites such as Nick.com or CartoonNetwork.com to see marketing banners advertising the game.

When you click on a banner like the one below you get rewarded with a Mario Super Sluggers Baseball card. Neat concept but very flawed if you know anything about the internet and HTML/Web Design...which sadly most kids don't.

All you do is click on any of those banners and then when the card page loads, click to login and then return back to the page where banners were and then refresh the page and get another new card...in no time you'll have extra cards that you can use as trades to get the really elusive Level 3 cards!

OR

You can simply use your head and look at your web browsing history folder. Every card has a unique web address. For instance, if you were to look at your web browsing history, you'll see that the page where Luigi can be found when you click on his card in the ad banner leads you to http://www.mariosupersluggerscards.com/NCKDJ/-- If you were to save each new card you found to your bookmarks in a special folder named "MARIO SUPER SLUGGERS CARDS", you could essentially have all the cards you want or ever need to trade with other users at your fingertips. You traded a Luigi card away? So what! Just go get another right away by using your bookmark! Its that simple...too simple to be honest with you. I'm surprised no one else had thought of this first. Internet Explorer doesn't reveal the address very well so I suggest using Mozilla Firefox.

Now I'm sure I'm going to get a "cease and desist" letter from Nintendo to remove this entry but I'm surprised as "internet savvy" that people are nowadays that someone didn't think of this earlier.

And oh by the way, they've likely released all the cards they are going to release until Monday. Two weeks ago they started with "Wave One"...and released "Wave Two" this past Monday. So I expect them to release "Wave Three" on Labour Day this coming Monday.

Any comments? Post them below or simply fire off an email to getmoremario@gmail.com

Happy Collecting! :D

The Dark Knight Kicks Major Ass!

There's certainly nothing dark about Batman's first night at the box office.

"The Dark Knight" lit up cash registers during its midnight debut, stealing away with a record $18.5 million from 3,040 theatres, distributor Warner Bros. said Friday.

Holy crap!

That's just one viewing of the movie alone in the US only! I can bet my life that in less than 7 days this movie will make over a $100 million.

** UPDATE **

Batman has sent Spidey packing as king of Hollywood’s box-office superheroes.‘

The Dark Knight’ took in a record US$155.34 million in its first weekend, topping the previous best of $151.1 million for ‘Spider-Man 3’ in May 2007 and pacing Holly to its biggest weekend ever, according to studio estimates Sunday.wood

“We knew it would be big, but we never expected to dominate the marketplace like we did,” said Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Bros., which released ‘The Dark Knight.’ The movie should shoot past the $200 million mark by the end of the week, he said.

Indiana Jones and the Mystery of the Little Green Men?!

Okay Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Lucas -- what in the blue hell was that all about??

In case you haven't seen it yet, let me save you the $10 bucks and suggest you spend it on The Dark Knight or even Hancock -- the latest Indiana Jones movie is all about martians.

Come again?

You heard me...LITTLE GREEN MEN who crashed on earth ages ago and the ancient Mayans built the temples on top of their spaceship to conceal it from the outside world. Sounds familiar doesn't it? I remember seeing something vaguely similar in last year's summer hit spectacular TRANSFORMERS where the US Government built Hoover Dam around the mysterious All-Spark cube to shield it and NBE-1 (a.k.a. Megatron) from the outside world.

Wait a second! Oh my gosh! Nah...has to be coincidence! Or is it?

Anyways...if you really feed the need to see it on the big screen -- don't say I didn't warn you.

Last chance...

Psst! Wanna get an Elite Xbox360 for FREE? Read on...

I was browsing the net on Saturday night absolutely bored out of my skull watching some YouTube videos when I came across this link to some guy "advertising" how to get a free Elite Xbox 360.

So I checked it out. I watched his little video and it seemed legit enough. After all, its been featured on the newscasts in the US so it has to be a legit offer.

How does it work you ask? Its simple. You sign up for an account and after completing one simple "offer" to try a product and getting a set amount of people to sign up under your referral code, they send you a freakin' Elite 360!

Sounds too good to be true, but I checked out that website for an hour or more and it seems very legit. You'll have to remember that back in the age of the internet ad revenue boon I was the recipient of a nice Apple iBook laptop from a now defunct "social website" known as Thirsty.com -- all I did was post stories I found online from sports, news and entertainment and came in first for the points that month and they sent me a brand new laptop!

So while I am still skeptical, I want to see if this works! If you want to check it out, then sign up here and tell all your friends!

We Have To Go Back...

I came across this fan-made video earlier last night and now I can honestly say that I can't wait until January!!

Genesis...When In Rome...

Poetry in Motion...Literally!

Why So Serious?

THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS!

I cannot wait for this one. As a huge comic book fan, I am look forward to seeing how this latest installment of the Batman series plays out.

Knowing that Heath Ledger died just after the filming of "The Dark Knight" is kind of sad because from what I hear, Heath did an amazing job bringing the maniacal character known as "The Joker" forward into the present time.

Don't get me wrong. Jack Nicholson's version of the Joker was just as great...but in a different vein. Besides finding a job...this is the next thing I look forward to this summer!

Unemployed...and Slightly Depressed

Man...I thought it was going to be a fun summer but so far I've been suffering from a mild case of depression after having my first potential job interview. I knew that my pampered past style of employment was long gone the day I signed the pink slip at Loblaws but the reality of that situation came crashing down last week.

I went in for an interview with Costco Warehouses last Tuesday and had what seems to be a successful interview! Of course, that's where reality came crashing down. The job is for an afternoon baker with definite weekend commitments.

Ew...

I'm sort of okay with the nature of afternoon work as long as it doesn't conflict with the more important things in my life like previous commitments and what not but what really gets me worried is the fact that I will have to work Sundays now if I choose to take the job for the first time in my life. I never worked the weekends at all in my previous employment. I was a strict Monday to Friday kind of guy.

The best thing is that they know I cannot work past noon on Sundays due to previously arranged commitments but I can't seem to wrap my head emotionally around the fact that my weekends are no longer mine to call my own.

What do I do?
